• Nigeria is the Lord's and its fullness therefore: the government and people, the land and all its wealth, all belong to Him. Jesus is Lord in Nigeria from the north to the south, from east to west.
• Nigeria, you shall fulfill your divine destiny and your redemptive purpose under the everlasting arms of the Lord. You shall arise for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. The sun shall no longer be your light by day nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you. Your sun shall no longer go down nor shall the moon withdraw itself for the Lord will be your everlasting light and the days of your mourning are ended.
• The Lord shall change your times and seasons and your gate shall be open continually. They shall not be shot day or night that men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles.
• Nigeria, all your children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be your peace. In righteousness, you shall be established and shall be far from oppression and from terror and those who assemble against you shall fall for your sake. Nigeria, like I promised my first born nation Israel, I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries and cause you to prosper in your own land.
• And I will sprinkle clean water upon you and you shall be clean and I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols and I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. I will take a heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh and My Spirit within you. Nigeria, the time has come for you to enter into your inheritance under Me because I have chosen you not because you deserve it but because I am the Sovereign God.
It is alarming the increased dependence of our politicians and even the "so called" church leaders on occult powers. The experience of two state governors; Anambra and Ogun states were publicized but many other governors and their cabinet members are involved in taking oaths at shrines to confirm allegiance. This is ungodly because idolatry brings about God's wrath, judgment, curses, captivity, and defilement, famine, drought cloud of darkness, reprobate minds, evil kings and demonic presence in lands.
• Bring repentance for the sin of idolatry and occultist practices by our political leaders that brings us as a nation under God's judgment.
• Ask God to convict such leaders who are involved in these sinful acts of their wickedness and that they repent and turn to the true God, (Prov. 28:13, 1John 1:8, 9)
• Pray that all leaders involved in occult practices be exposed and judged if they do not repent.
• Pray that those who trust in the true God record excellent results in their governance so that those who trust in evil powers may learn from this, (Dan. 1:10).
• Pray for our leaders to trust wholly in the God of Israel for wisdom, knowledge, understanding, protection, provision, strength, and ability, (Prov. 3:3-6)
Nigeria derives billions of dollars from export of crude oil and natural gas but there is much corruption and wastage in this sector. A committee set up in 2012 reported that billions of dollars were lost through corruption, inefficiency, wastage, reckless spending, smuggling, illegal bunkering, etc.
Thank God for the great treasures He has invested in this nation. Declare the Lordship of Jesus Christ and His Sovereignty over the crude oil, natural gas, all solid minerals and over all the oil companies and all their staff and equipment, (Col 1:14-17).
• Bring repentance for the high level corruption, wastage, inefficiency, smuggling, idolatry, occultism, kidnapping, piracy on the high seas and the creeks, illegal bunkering, illegal sales of oil blocks, loss of lives due to pipeline explosion, hooliganism etc.
• Bind the water spirits that operate in the Niger Delta causing violence, greed, covetousness, bloodshed; occultism, mammon worship, etc. Command them to cease their operations in this sector, (Is. 27:1).
• Ask the Lord to visit all strongholds of darkness in the oilfields and solid mineral sites with thunder and lighting, earthquake and great noise and bring about His peace and righteousness in all these places.
• Pray that corruption, embezzlement, wastage, inefficiency etc, uncovered during the recent probe in this sector should not be swept under the carpet but it should be acted upon by the government.
• Pray God to expose and judge foreign collaborators and all crude oil thieves.
This is a very crucial part of a nation's wellbeing. This is what determines the standard of living of the people-poor or rich. Nigeria is a richly endowed nation but the living standard of most Nigerians is less than $1 per day (N160). Corruption is the largest problem followed by illiteracy, over population, mismanagement, suboptimal utilization of agriculture and mineral resources because of crude oil and political instability.
• With the rebasing of Nigeria's economy in April 2014, Nigeria's Gross Domestic Product now stands at $510 billion making it the biggest economy in Africa. Thank God for this. But pray that this should actually translate to better standard of living of the people and not end up as mere figures. Ask God to give our government the wisdom to manage all spheres of our economy to the benefit of all.
• According to Mercer cost of living survey, out of 214 destinations, Nigeria's two major urban cities; Lagos and Abuja are ranked amongst expensive destinations in the world with Lagos placed 39 and Abuja 64 respectively. Ask God to give the government the ability to reduce the cost of living of Nigerians.
• A new Central Bank Governor has been appointed. Thank God for answers to prayers in this regard. Ask God to give him wisdom to manage and improve the state of the economy. Pray that he should remain professional on the job. That he should be a ready tool in the hands of the LORD.
• Pray God to raise a Joseph company; men and women who are shrewd and honest managers of the nation's resources and under divine direction with divine abilities, (Gen 41:39-57).
• Pray for our banking and finance sector, a major player in our economic wellbeing to be led by people who carry out their work with integrity, fear of God, diligence and professionalism. Pray against all sharp practices in this sector that ethical values and character be upheld as their watchword.
• Bind every Babylonian spirit, covetousness, spirit of pride, occultism and love of money. Command these spirits to loose their hold over the managers of the economy and let the Holy Spirit take over them.
• Ask the Lord to stir up the hearts of our legislators to promulgate laws to enhance our economy.
• Declare the Lordship and Sovereignty of Jesus Christ over the various sectors of our economy. Pray that He rules and reigns over these sectors and their managers.
• Pray for the Central Bank of Nigeria to come up with policies that favor the economy and not those with shades of religious under tone.
The word of God commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem until its righteousness goes forth as brightness and its salvation as a lamp that burns, (Isa. 62:1). Also, we are commanded to pray for Jerusalem with a promise that we shall prosper as we love her (Psa. 122:6), and those who curse her will be cursed by God, (Gen 12:3).
• Ask God to forgive this nation if in any way, Nigeria joined other nations to make decisions that were unfavourable to Israel, (1Jn 1:8, 9; Prov. 28:13 Ps. 51, Ex 33:19).
• Bind the spirit of Judaism (the religion that believes in the Law of Moses rather than Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour) in the lives of the Jews, (Matt 18:8).
• Pray God to give peace to Jerusalem and entire Israel in the midst of Arabs and unbelieving nations that are continually antagonizing her, (Ps. 122:6).
• Pray that Arabs and other unbelieving nations know the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and when they are saved, they love and make peace with Israel, (Is: 19:23-25, Ps. 87:1-3).
• Pray that Nigeria through her foreign policies always express love and support for Israel so that God in turn may bless Nigeria, (Gen 12:3). Also pray that more watchmen pray for Israel day and night, (Is. 62:6-7). Pray that even when all nations gather against her, Jerusalem remains an immovable rock and that all who try to move her get smashed, (Zech 3:12).
• Ask God to raise more support for Israel against threats by Arab nations.
This double-edged evil is another "plague" upon our nation. Children are kidnapped, traded-in, smuggled out to neighboring nations to be used for slave labour whilst young girls have their destinies wrecked by pimps who deceive them with lucrative job opportunities overseas. On arrival, their passports are seized and they are immediately forced into prostitution in order to recover monies spent in "helping" them procure passports and flight tickets.
• Pray that the Mafia behind this immoral trade be exposed and judged by God and that the law enforcement agents arrest and prosecute them.
• Pray that the parents of such young men and women involved in this wicked and immoral trade either call their children to order or receive divine judgment. Also pray God to convict and cause repentance upon parents that encourage their children into prostitution.
• Pray the Lord Jesus to set free all our young people who are already enslaved by this evil trade.
• Pray for their salvation, (John 8:36, 1John 2:4).
• Bind the spirit of mammon, spirit of Babylon and the spirit of prostitution and command them out of the lives of these young people.
• Pray that members of the Mafia have an encounter with the Lord and be convicted, (Matt. 9:13; Lk 19:10) or be judged by God.
• Pray that the church in Nigeria preach and teach against this sin. Also pray God to give His Church the foresight to labour to rehabilitate those who may have suffered child labour or trafficking and prostitution.
• Pray that there be a genuine and concerted effort against drug trafficking and use, prostitution and human trafficking in Nigeria.
• Pray God to expose all those engaged in these immoral activities.
• The new phenomenon called baby factories is fasting growing in Nigeria. Young girls are accommodated in so called factories (rented apartments) and paid to get pregnant and immediately after birth, their babies are sold for as low as N50, 000 to ritualists. Ask God to intervene in this shameful act. Pray God to give all law enforcement agencies the push to burst such factories.
• A lot of evil forests have been discovered in different parts of Nigeria where people declared missing have been found alongside human parts. Ask God to bring an end to this evil by exposing all persons involved.
Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Psa. 2:8
This is the whole purpose of the church and the Church will fail if we don't accomplish our mission's mandate. Nigeria is a missionary nation. There is hardly any nation on earth where Nigerians are not planting churches and evangelizing.
• Pray that more churches and non-church ministries are more passionately involved in missions, evangelism, church planting and discipleship. Also pray that they do this by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, (Lk 24:29; Acts 1:8; Mk 16:15). Ask the Lord to send more missionaries to unreached people groups.
• Pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon missionaries and the entire church for empowerment to preach the good news, proclaim freedom to prisoners, recovery of sight to the blind and release of the oppressed, (Isa, 61:1-3).
• Pray God to give missionaries and their families strength, wisdom, encouragement, protection, provision, anointing, compassion, revived prayer life, healthy family life, fruitfulness, grace and favor, open heavens, God's presence, courage, peace, joy, holy lifestyle, divine direction, mercy and long life.
• Unless people see the move of the power of God, many will not believe. So pray for signs and wonders, healings and deliverances to follow the ministry of missionaries.
Jesus said "the poor will you always have with you" (Matt. 26:11). But he wants us to be a blessing to them, (Gal. 2:10). Over 70% of Nigerians are classified by United Nations to be living below poverty line (i.e. living on less than $1 per day).
• Repent over the inability of the Nigerian government to meet the needs of the poor.
• Bind the spirit of self-pity, discouragement, laziness, unbelief, doubt, fear, poverty, foolishness, witchcraft, lack, etc. Cast these spirits out from the poor.
• Rebuke principalities and powers and rulers of darkness and other wicked spirits and command them to loose their hold on these oppressed people.
• Pray for God's sustenance for the poor widows, widowers, and orphans in these hard times.
• Pray God to enable the Federal Government come up with definite steps to provide employment opportunities for the poor to ease them out of poverty.
• Pray God to help the Government put in place policies and legislation to take care of handicapped and the aged.
This is one of the greatest problems Nigeria is facing and it has increased since a Christian president took over from the last Moslem president. In the last two years, thousands of people have been killed particularly in Northern Nigeria.
• Pray frustrating the plans of the enemy to destabilize Nigeria and make it an Islamic nation, (Is 7:7; 8:9,10; Job 5:12 ;Psalm 2:l-12)
• Ask God to manifest Himself in the midst of His children. That He should come to our deliverance as He did in Egypt, that the nations may know that He is LORD.
• Pray God to spew all troublers of Nigeria who sponsor religious crisis. Ask God to embarrass and put them to shame.
• Ask God to comfort, provide, protect and preserve His children especially the northern Christians suffering persecution. Pray that they continue to abide in the LORD in the midst of these persecutions.
